Roundin’ Up The Faves: Album Edition

I don’t know about “the best” — let’s not get hung up on labels — but below you’ll find my own favorites from the past 12 months. If you keep up with the listmakers and you’re about listed out here on this last day, take heart! My choices will barely overlap with most music writers. Regular readers will note that many of these albums have appeared previously, but I’ve showcased a new song in most instances.

So loosen the lasso and let it fly.  Let’s round ’em up.

  1. Nice list. I personally have mixed feelings about Awaken My Love. On one hand I enjoy listening to it, on the other I feel it borrows too much from the 70s P-Funk/Sly Stone scene without adding originality. Every time I put it on I wonder halfway through why am I not listening to a Funkadelic album instead.

    • Agreed about Awaken My Love. I totally heard the echoes of Funkadelic throughout the album. Wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first, but I kept on wanting to play the album, and I enjoy it more and more. Thanks for checking out the blog. And thanks for the comments.
