Hello, 2017.
So, musically, 2016 provided us with a lot of pretty good stuff. Some of it expected; some of it surprising. Much of it still stuck in my head. My point is, you’ve got some big record sleeves to fill, one-seven. What exactly are you bringing to the table to dazzle us if you’re able?
Guitars? Sounds promising. What else have you got? More guitars, you say? Hmm.
You know what, 2017? I think you and I are going to get along juuuust fine.
Let’s round ’em up.
The Regrettes – Feel Your Feelings Fool!
Los Angeles teens deliver short, sharp shocks to the system with a blend of girl group harmonies and 90s alt-rock. Do as they command!
Japandroids – Near To The Wild Heart Of Life
If people want to bring back the heartland rock of the mid-80s that’s fine by me. Let’s do it. North American anthems for a new generation.
What if The Psychedelic Furs started listening to The Replacements? Heat answer that question, and ask a few more. Six-string splendor.
I’m diggin’ The Regrettes tracks! Are you familiar with a band called The Pack A.D.? Something about The Regrettes reminds me a bit of them, even though The Pack has a more raw and raunchy sound a la White Stripes.
Glad you like them! I can’t believe they’re all about 17 years old. Very talented. The Pack A.D. sounds familiar but I don’t think I’ve heard them. I’ll check it out!
Thanks for the tracks – they’re all new to me, and I’m really enjoying!!
Thanks for checking them out. Happy to hear you’re enjoying them!
