Roundin’ Up The Raves: Nikki Lane, The Orwells, Hanni El Khatib

Sure. I take one week off from recommending new albums in order to revisit my oft-neglected 834 part series known as The Story, thinking it’s going to be a quiet couple of weeks for new releases, only to find a slew of good music vigorously rocking on my eardrums, insistent on wanting to come inside my brain and party.

And I let them.

Let’s round ’em up.

frontNikki Lane – Highway Queen

Super-fine, swaggering, 21st century country-rock. You don’t need GPS — just follow Nikki Lane down the blacktop. She’ll get you where you need to go.

frontThe Orwells – Terrible Human Beings

They don’t always sound like Beck if he had spent the 90s in front of a rock band — but sometimes they do. Soy un ganador, baby.

Brash boys from Illinois, laying it down, so you can pick it up.

Hanni El Khatib – Savage Times

Hanni expands his sound and produces his best album to date. Recorded as a series of EPs over the past year and collected into one glorious, forceful anthology.

Get stung. With rock! It won’t hurt, but you will feel it.
