Roundin’ Up The Raves: BØRNS, St. Beauty, Shame, The Sufis

Welcome to the first raves of 2018! It’s a new year and I am stoked – yes, stoked – to see what kind of musical gifts we’ll receive over the next 12 months. Can you dig it? I knew that you could.

Let’s round ’em up.

BØRNS – Blue Madonna

More electro-glam-pop from the man who brought you “Electric Love,” one of 2015’s finest singles.

He also brings you that kick-ass suit on the cover.

St. Beauty – Running To The Sun

A promising debut mini-album from the Atlanta R&B duo which does an excellent job of making you wish it was longer.

Shame – Songs Of Praise

No, this is not a quintet of well-dressed farmers singing songs unto the Lord. It’s a UK band mining the post-punk sound of the late 70’s and early 80’s, with a raspy drawl and chiming, echo-laden guitars.

The Sufis – After Hours

These gentlemen have listened to some Velvet Underground and George Harrison in their spare time, but still make a sound all their own with their laid back, catchy songs.

Let’s hope they make it a habit.
