Roundin’ Up The Raves: Father John Misty, Shannon Shaw, Shawn Mendes, Ruen Brothers

Hey there! Me again. Yesterday’s post was so nice, I decided to do it twice. You didn’t have anything else to do this weekend, right? I’m certain you all lead isolated, monastic lifestyles with your head forever locked between the woofers and tweeters, surrounded by mountain-range stacks of CDs and records and towering shelves of music books threatening to collapse on you at any minute. Right?

No? Just me?

Let’s round ’em up.

Father John Misty – God’s Favorite Customer

Misty continues to sound like an indie-rock Elton John from the early 70’s, but why mess with success?

Shannon Shaw – Shannon In Nashville

Shaw wails and croons on top of dramatic retro production from Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach.

Shawn Mendes – Shawn Mendes

If you like radio-friendly pop R&B then you already know Shawn Mendes. If not, give it a try. He’s sporting a little Prince vibe on this one, and the kid can sing.

Ruen Brothers – All My Shades Of Blue

More retro rock, from the Everly Brothers album cover to the occasionally Orbison-esque vocals.
