Roundin’ Up The Raves: Lizzo, Diane Coffee, John Paul White, Fat White Family

It’s always a good week for albums when I have difficulty narrowing down my choices of which songs to present.

Let’s round ’em up.

Lizzo – Cuz I Love You

Lizzo can bring the rap, the pop, the funk, the aching soul, and she’s fun as hell.

Do not, I repeat, do not play this out loud around your workplace or children. It’s also explicit as hell.

But do play it. And then play it again.

Diane Coffee – Internet Arms

Foxygen’s drummer continues to better his main band with his solo albums. This one appears to be an 80’s-inspired concept album about America, and technology, and what it means to be human. I’m not entirely sure…but it’s all kinds of awesome.

John Paul White – The Hurting Kind

Throwback country. The best kind of country.

Fat White Family – Serfs Up!

They’ve released dark and weird albums before, but this time it’s dark and catchy, with their best music yet.

(Unless you enjoy dark and weird videos, you may prefer to listen to the audio only. Depends partly on what you find disturbing, and what you find funny.)
