London 2: Electric Boogaloo

Two years have elapsed since our magical Christmas across the ocean in London. We enjoyed it so much that a reprise felt necessary. It will, of course, be difficult to top the previous trip. After all, we saw Bill Nighy in a bookshop on our first day.

At that time, we half-jokingly spoke of simply never using our return ticket, but half-joking also means half-serious. So if any of my loyal UK readers have connections who specialize in immigration, or visas, or extremely long-term Airbnbs, please feel free to reach out. I promise we’ll fit right in.

We’re already familiar with Richard Osman, Richard and Judy, Ant and Dec, Knurr and Spell, Wayne Rooney and Wayne Sleep, Noel Edmonds and Ade Edmondson, Les Dennis and Les Dawson, Bubble and Squeak, Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry, Bill Bailey and Bill Oddie, Blue Peter and Peter Andre, and of course, the two Ronnies (which reminds me, I need four candles).

Before we left on the last trip, I posted a video of Wizzard’s “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday,” a well known UK holiday song totally unknown in the US. This year, I’ll do so again with a yuletide classic (except in America) from Slade:

A happy holiday season to all, and I’ll see you back here on January….. shall we say, 7th? 14th at the latest.

    • I would have loved to approach him, but he came in with his very young grandaughter, and even if he had been alone I didn’t want to be the American who broke all rules of etiquette by disturbing a celebrity browsing at a Waterstones! (I also chose not to bother John Cleese as I stood behind him in line at a Borders bookstore back in 2002, although I absolutely regret that now).
