Roundin’ Up The Raves: Flyte, The Surfing Magazines, JoAnna Lee, Alex Cameron

Got to squeeze in one more of these posts before the caesura or else there will be 20 albums chomping at the bit to get noticed next time.

Let’s round ’em up.

Flyte – The Loved Ones

If you’re a fan of Britpop (from any decade) and late-60’s Beatles/Beach Boys, then you might want to stop what you’re doing and play this album.

The Surfing Magazines – The Surfing Magazines

A mix of The Velvet Underground, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Smiths, and tremeloed surf rock shouldn’t work. But work it does.

JoAnna Lee – So Free

Laidback acoustic-based R&B with some light funk and jazz touches. See that smile on the cover? That’s how the music will make you feel.

Alex Cameron – Forced Witness

It’s hard to figure Cameron out. He may or may not be playing a character. He may just be unique. He’s made half a dozen videos for his first two albums and they all feature his one-of-a-kind dancing.

If you like quirky, and you like 80’s synth-pop, you will love Alex Cameron.
