We’ve got a Whitman’s Sampler for you this week. Sweet, sour, nuts, no nuts — a little bit of everything. Hopefully, something to snap your taste buds to attention. [Some of these albums have been out for a while, but as you may have noticed, I’ve been gone for a spell.]
Alternatively, metaphor-wise, if you know your Ecclesiastes (or your Footloose), we’ve got a time to laugh, a time to weep, a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
Here’s the gamut …
Let’s round ’em up.
That falsetto, though. Shivers.
There are many paths available for the future of music to take. If it wants to choose this one, I’m totally okay with that.
Quaker City Night Hawks – El Astronauta
A Texas spin on classic blues rock. But set in the future. Sci-fi southern rock!
Adia Victoria – Beyond The Bloodhounds
PJ Harvey and Billie Holliday drinking bourbon among the willows. Spooky and mysterious.
Lo-fi indie folk with a heart and a sense of humor. And a rubber chicken.
So glad that you’re back! Where else would we hear such a collection of interesting tracks? Particularly enjoying the Gallant songs. Probably wouldn’t have come across them otherwise, so thanks for that!
Thanks, Becky! I got a really bad cold/flu thing which just knocked me out (unusual for me since I generally have mild symptoms when I get sick) and it robbed me of all my writing momentum. It was hard to build it back up again. But I’m glad to be back, and it’s always good to hear from you!
Glad that you’re feeling better and back to writing!
